VACON® 100 AC drives are ideal for saving energy, optimizing process control and improving productivity. They are designed for multi-purpose use while remaining easy to install, easy to commission and easy to operate. The variants VACON® INDUSTRIAL and VACON® FLOW are available in power range 0.55-800 kW, voltage range 208-690 V, and protection ratings IP00, IP21/UL Type 1 and IP54/UL Type 12.
The VLT® AutomationDrive is designed for variable speed control of all asynchronous motors and permanent magnet motors. It comes in a standard version (FC 301) and an advanced high dynamic version (FC 302) with additional functionalities.
A low-voltage drive covers a voltage range from 100 to 690 Volt and power from several watts to megawatts. The drive system is connected to the grid and generates a 3-phase voltage which is variable in amplitude and frequency. This enables control of the electrical motor in torque and speed.
A variable-frequency drive (VFD, or adjustable-frequency drive, adjustable-speed drive, variable-speed drive, AC drive, micro drive, inverter drive, or drive) is a type of AC motor drive (system incorporating a motor) that controls speed and torque by varying the frequency of the input electricity.
The recommended VLT for all conditions (ie. one lens for everything) is usually around the 30% mark as it gives a good amount of sun protection while not being too dark for low light days.
The main difference between VLT and switch stacking lies in their implementation and capabilities. VLT provides a more resilient and fault-tolerant solution for high availability networks, while switch stacking is more focused on scalability and simplifying network management.
Visible light transmittance (VLT) is a third rating that's related to the solar heat gain coefficient. It measures how much light in the visible spectrum passes through the glass of a window or door. Like SHGC and U-value, VLT is measured as a ratio between zero and one.
A variable frequency drive (VFD) refers to AC drives only and a variable speed drive (VSD) refers to either AC Drives or DC Drives. VFDs vary the speed of an AC motor by varying the frequency to the motor. VSDs referring to DC motors vary the speed by varying the voltage to the motor.
Undervoltage is also a problem we often encounter in use. The main reason is that the voltage of the main circuit is too low (380V series is lower than 400V). The main reason is that one of the rectifier bridges is damaged or the three thyristors are not working properly, which may lead to undervoltage faults.
Just as higher voltages can help reduce motor operating temperatures, low voltage is a major cause of motor overheating and premature failure. A low voltage forces a motor to draw extra current to deliver the power expected of it thus overheating the motor windings.
