Thankfully, there are lots of ways you can customize this recipe. It’s super easy to make and a really flexible recipe with lots of room to play with.

Here’s what I used in my casserole:

  • Chicken thighs – use boneless and skinless thighs since you will be cutting them into smaller pieces. You can also use chicken breast instead.
  • Broccoli florets – Chop them up into smaller bites
  • Butter – unsalted
  • Garlic – minced
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Bacon

You can even make it ahead of time and use it for meal prep! Just store it covered in the refrigerator for up to a week. Keep in mind that when you refrigerate this casserole, the cheese sauce will harden in the fridge. All you have to do is reheat it in the oven and it will melt beautifully.
