Linus - Stardew Valley Guide - IGN (2024)

Nature-loving Linus is a unique character who lives in a tent in the mountains and generally keeps himself separate from the other residents of Pelican Town. However, he's a valuable friend to have in Stardew Valley, as he can teach you many useful recipes. This guide has everything you need to get Linus to warm up to you!

Linus Basics

Linus lives in a tent north of the Carpenter's Shop in the Mountains. He is distant from most of the town, but seems to get along with Gus, Willy, and the Wizard. Later, he becomes friends with Leo. His birthday is Winter 3.

Linus Schedule

Linus generally stays in his tent or just outside it, either at his campfire, at the edge of the cliff overlooking the Mountain Lake, or next to the Lake itself. In the Fall, he will stand just outside the Spa by the Railroad Tracks from 9AM to 2PM. In Winter, he goes inside the Spa for warmth between 2PM and 6PM.

Linus attends all Festivals, and these days are the only deviations from his schedule. He also does not join others in the Saloon during the Green Rain, instead staying in or just outside his tent.

Linus Quests

Linus is one of the villagers who can request you deliver him items via the "Help Wanted" board outside Pierre's General Store.

In addition, Linus is involved in the following Quests:

• Blackberry Basket - Fall 8. Find Linus's missing basket in the Backwoods near the tunnel entrance and give it to him. Rewards 1 Friendship Heart.
• Community Cleanup - Special Orders Board, random, non-repeatable. Gather 20 trash items (excluding Joja Cola) and place them in the box by the Railroad Tracks. Rewards 500g, 250 Friendship Points with Linus, Fiber Seeds recipe, and a cutscene.

Linus Gift Guide

Linus is fairly easy to give gifts to, as he Likes many wild foraged items. Note that you can also build friendship if Linus catches you rummaging in trash cans (unlike all other Villagers, who will lose Friendship if they see you.)

To increase your relationship with Linus, these are the best items to give him.

Likes

Linus likes the following and giving him other items will result in him being unimpressed, or in some cases, upset.

Neutral

Linus is neutral towards the following items.

Dislikes

These are items that Linus doesn't like and won't reactfavourablyto. Note that if you try to give Linus a Treasure Chest, he will refuse to accept it and give it back.

Hates

Giving any of these items to Linus will result in an upset reaction.

Linus Movie Theater

Linus Hates all movies, so inviting him to the movies is not the best way to bond with him. However, he does Love the concessions Salmon Burger and Stardrop Sorbet.

Linus Heart Events

Linus's Heart Events often result in him teaching you valuable recipes, so you should definitely prioritize getting them.

Once you have 50 Friendship Points with Linus (less than one full Friendship Heart,) enter Pelican Town between 8PM and 12AM on a non-rainy day. George will ask you about raccoons stealing from trash cans, but the culprit is actually Linus. Gus will also discover him rooting through the trash can and give him some food. None of your dialogue choices will positively or negatively affect your friendship with Linus.

Linus mails you the Sashimi recipe.

Enter the Mountains near Linus's tent between 8PM and 12AM on a non-rainy day. Linus will show you how to make Wild Bait, which will be added to your crafting recipes after this scene.

Linus mails you the Fish Taco recipe.

Enter Robin's House (aka the Carpenter's Shop) between 9AM and 5PM on a non-rainy day. Robin will be worried about Linus, but he will inform you that his foraging is going well. Say "I'm just pleased Linus is doing well" to Robin to earn 250 Friendship Points with Linus.
