Pella Jane Rigsby

ROANOKE RAPIDS - Pella Jane Rigsby, 71, of 1150 Old Halifax Road, Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Western Medical Center in Cary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill "Rigsby. Her motto was "Have a F.R.O.G. Day (Fully Rely on God)" and her hobby was taking care of grandchildren and collecting butterflies. She was a wonderful wife, outstanding mother and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Ed Rigsby of Winterville and Sue LeJune and husband, Eugene, of Covington, La.; Ray Rigsby and wife, Tammy, of Pensacola, Fla.; David Rigsby and wife, Ann, of Tifton, Ga.; Donna Smith and husband, Charles, of Roanoke Rapids; Mark Rigsby and wife, Rhonda, of Roanoke Rapids; Paul Rigsby and wife, Lesley, of Kinston; and Penny Cummings of Fuquay Varina; brothers, Thomas Moore of Richmond, Va., Harry Moore of Chesapeake, Va.; sisters, Connie Doggette of Newport News, Va., Judy Gehring of Charleston, S.C., and Martha Brice of Ft. Payne, Ala.; grandchildren, Aimeé Rigsby, Bekki Starnes, Brittany, Monique and René Laurent, Megan, Jordan and Harrison Rigsby, Wayne, Chase, Chandler, Savannah and Chaney Rigsby, Nikki and Max Smith, Jessee and Sydney Rigsby, Hunter, Caleb and Leah Rigsby, and Austin Cummings; and three great-grandchildren.

Hockaday Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, in the chapel, with the Rev. Ken Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Dec. 21, at the funeral home, and other times at the home, 1150 Old Halifax Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home Health and Hospice of Halifax County.

John Robert Brady Sr.

ROANOKE RAPIDS - Mr. John Robert Brady Sr., 67, of 50 Cedar St., Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004.

Mr. Brady was the son of the late Ivey O'Neal Brady and Nell Farmer Brady. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nell Brady Sprain. Mr. Brady was an avid sportsman, and was retired from the State of North Carolina Juvenile Probation Services as chief court counselor. He was a former volunteer fireman with the Jackson Fire Department and one of the founders of the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department in Henrico.

He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Brady; two sons, John Robert Brady Jr. of Jackson and Kevin Wade Brady of Waldorf, Md.; one daughter, Kimberly O'Neal Brady Kromka of Pine Knoll Shores; two stepdaughters, Kathy Hawkins of Roanoke Rapids and Christy Warwick of Gasburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Eamon Kromka and Ivey O'Neal Kromka; and three stepgrandchildren, Brent Hawkins, Aaron Warwick and Ethan Warwick.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Askew Funeral Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22.

In lieu of flowers, memorail donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville NC 27834.

John 'Buddy' Fowler Jr.

TARBORO - John "Buddy" Fowler Jr., 76, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004.

Bowling Funeral Home in Tarboro is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., today, Dec. 21, in the chapel. Visitation will follow the service.

Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Greenwood Cemetery, with Pastor Steve Weaver officiating.

Leroy Harris Jr.

ROCKY MOUNT - Mr. Leroy Harris Jr., 35, of Newark, N.J., formerly of Rocky Mount, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in Newark.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Light of Peace Church in Rocky Mount, with the Rev. Lonnie Braswell officating. Interment will follow in the Saint Matthew Church Cemetery in Dunbar. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church.

H.D. Pope Funeral Home in Rocky Mount is handling the arrangements.

Lynwood Junior Hall

RICH SQUARE - Mr. Lynwood Junior Hall, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at the Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Mr. Hall was a native of Northampton County and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. He was married to Evelyn Robbins in 1946 and enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage. He worked as a truck diver for his entire career, delivering caskets for Woodland Manufacturing, Parker Manufacturing and Northampton Casket Company, which is now Tarheel Casket Company. He retired in 1991 from Parker Manufacturing Company. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Harrell Hall; his father, Spurgeon Hall; and his two brothers, William Hall and Bobby Hall.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Robbin Hall; one son, Donnie Lee Hall and his wife, Carol, of Cary; two grandchildren, Daniel Hall and his wife, Christi, and their daughter, Joydyn of Durham, and Caroline Jones and her husband, Brian, of Rocky Mount.

Sykes Funeral Home in Rich Square is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, in the chapel, with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, Dec. 21, at the funeral home.

Marvin Jean

Claudette Gardiner

MURFREESBORO - Funeral services for Mrs. Claudette Gardiner, better known as "Sam" of Murfreesboro, will be held at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Wilder's Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Melvin Winborn officiating. Burial will follow in Hampton Veteran's Cemetery in Hampton, Va.

Wilder's Funeral Home Inc. in Aulander is handling the arrangements.

Magnolia Webb

PLEASANT HILL - Funeral arrangements are incomplete and being handled by Faison's Funeral Home in Seaboard, for Mrs. Magnolia Webb, 56, of Pleasant Hill, who departed her earthly life Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at her home.
