Good Afternoon Families,

Reconciliation: This week many of the Year Three children celebrated their First Reconciliation. The time preparing for the sacrament has been a great time for all our Middle School children to reflect on the choices they make. Sometimes these choices are not the best and each of us can reconcile with God by thinking about how we can make amends for our choice and what choice we would make next time. It is something we are all called to reflect on. Certificates will be presented at Assembly on the second Monday of term Three. We would love parents to join us for this.

Our Science Expos and Celebrations of Learning have been incredible over the past two weeks.To watch our budding weather forecasters and scientists share their knowledge and expertise has been fantastic. Thank you to our teachers and children who have showcased their learning for Term Two so beautifully.

Family Conferences- Student Led Conferences: In case you missed the Audiri message that went out this week, here it is again

• Interviews are on Thursday 18th July starting at 1.30 pm

• Children remain at school for the afternoon

• Prep to Year 2 children will have the normal Parent-Teacher interview

• Year 3-6 children will present to their parents plus there will be an opportunity to raise any other concern you have.

• Please make sure you READ your child's report which went 'live' this Tuesday.

• Meetings will be 12 minutes

• Once you have your conference for your child/children, parents are welcome to sign their child out early.

• All conferences will take place in the Discovery Centre

• If your child/children has a planned PSG meeting in Weeks 3 or 4 of Term Three, you DO NOT need to book a meeting here.

PSG meetings have been set for Week 3 (Prep to Year 4) and Week 4 (Year 5 and 6) next term. Parents have been sent an individual email with the details for this.

We have four SCHOOL CLOSURE DAYS to the end of the school year. Please note them on your calendar:

STAFFING UPDATE:

I am very pleased to announce that Kathryn Fitt is taking some well deserved long service leave for Terms Three and Four. She is making use of a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family as well as utilise some travel plans. Rosa Phillips will step into Kathryn's role whilst she is away. We wish Kathryn a very special leave period with her family.

I too will be taking a short break for eight school days in late July. I will be venturing to the north and some sunshine to meet up with my brother who is visiting from the US. It will be lovely to spend time with him and my family. I’ll be back just in time to pack my bags for the Middle School camp and l’m excited!

THANK YOU… to the staff who turn up every day with optimism and determination to make a difference in the lives of our children. I wish them a very well-earned, restful two weeks ahead.

Reconciliation

We have many of our Year Three students who have made the Sacrament of Reconciliation this week.

Chiara,Brooklyn,Tilly L,Vanessa, Sarah, Olivia, Mitchell, Clem, Jack,
Tilly K, Issy, Madison, Oliver, Ava, Mila and Sophie.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers as they progresson their faith journey.

In Term 3 we will have 2 families join St Luke's for a short term stay. The families are here during their school holidays and hope to gain an understanding of as well as experience schooling in Australia.

If any family has spare uniform items that can be lent to the students it would be greatly appreciated: Boys uniform size 10 and Girls uniform size 12.

We are looking forward to meeting the students and families next term.

This term in Inquiry, senior students have been exploring and learning about Physical and Chemical Science and how change occurs. Over the past weeks our senior students became scientists and tested experiments whilst also writing a science report to document the process and report on their results. HIGHBURY DISTRICT BASKETBALL COMPETITION

On Friday 14th June, St Luke’s students participated in the Highbury District Basketball Competition. We entered 4 teams, St Luke’s Dragons, St Luke’s Bulldogs, St Luke’s Leopards and St Luke’s Stars.

The competition was at quite a high level and our students are to be congratulated on a wonderful display of skill and sportsmanship. A number of our teams won many matches quite convincingly and narrowly missed out on playing in the finals.

We thank our amazing parent volunteers and coaches, Jeremy Burdan, David Simco*ck, Kylie and Matthew Watson and our wonderful staff, Rosa Phillips and Steph Pierce. Your assistance with coaching, time keeping, supervising and providing ongoing encouragement and feedback was greatly appreciated by all the teams.

TERM 3 SPORTS EVENTS

The Year 5 and 6 Highbury District Winter Sports will be held on Friday 16th August. Our students will be competing in either Soccer or Netball. More information closer to the day.

The Highbury District Athletic Sports will be held on Friday 6th September for selected students in Years 3-6. The age groups will be the same as our Twilight Athletic Sports - 9/10 years, 11 years and 12/13 years. Trials will be conducted at school early Term 3 for the various events. 2 boys and 2 girls can be selected for each of the following events in each age group.

• Track events - 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, hurdles and 4 x 100m and Shuttle relay.
• Field events - Long jump, Triple jump, High jump, Shot Put and Discus,

Each student may be selected for up to a maximum of 3 events plus a relay. ie; 2 track and 1 field event plus a relay OR 1 track and 2 field plus a relay.

LOST PROPERTY:

Please check the lost property cupboard in the office foyer if you are missing uniform or food containers.

Term 2 and 3 WINTER UNIFORMS:

Winter uniform - As the months get cooler, please make sure your child has his/her school jumperEVERYday. Rain jackets should not be worn in place of a school jumper and are for outside use only.

CHILDREN ARRIVING AFTER THE BELL OR LEAVING EARLY:

As part of our wellbeing care of children at St Luke's, every class engages in a morning routine at 8.50 am. This quiet, calm time allows children to gather together in a circle, to greet each other by name, to pray and/or enter into some Christian meditation and get ready for the day. Please make sure you allow enough time to get your child to school BEFORE 8.50 am.

If children arrive after the gate and student entry doors are locked,parents/carers are required to walk their child/ren to the school office and sign them in on the VPass iPad.

If leaving early (before the end of the day), parents/carers are required to sign their child/ren out on the VPASS iPad.

FOOD ALLERGIES:

Allergic reactions to food… can be harmful to our children. For that reason we ask parents to think carefully about what they are packing in their child’s lunch boxes. Occasionally, something might slip through and once aware, we take precautions to ensure the safety of every child. As stated in the Family Handbook 2024:

We are an EGG and NUT free school due to the allergies of children within our community. We ask that parents respect this request and the potential harm this could do to children if brought to school.
