DRIVING DIRECTIONS If you are arriving via car and have a GPS / SatNav system in the car, please use SA71 5LH. If you do not have a GPS device, you can find us by following the freshwater east Road (B4584) from Lamphey following the signs to freshwater east for around 1.6 miles, turn right at the sign for the beach on to trewent hill and follow this down for around 0.2 miles then turn left at the Devon court sign. Follow this
down and round to the left into the car park, the spaces are numbered and 25 is in the top left hand corner near the bin shed.

GETTING HERE WITHOUT A CAR We Recommend a car due to the location of the flat in relation to visitor attractions as well as supermarkets. The nearest train station is at Lamphey which is around 2 miles away from the flat.

PARKING Parking is provided on site for 1 car and our space is numbered 25 in the top left hand corner.

ACCESS TO THE FLAT AND UNLOADING The access to the flat is level with no steps despite it being on the first floor. You will use the middle path which will lead to a ramp for the middle floor and number 25 is the 3rd one from the far end. We recommend parking in the keep clear bit near the middle path for convenience for unloading when you arrive and loading up when you are ready to depart as the car park is wide and on an incline. There is a beach trolley in the flat that you are welcome to use for loading and unloading but please don’t take this to the beach as it is solely to help get your belongings to and from the flat with ease.

PETS We allow one small well behaved dog in the apartment. We ask you keep your pet off the beds and soft furnishings but if this is unavoidable at times then we ask that you use clean throws/blankets to cover the furniture to protect and keep it clean for other guests. Under no circ*mstances are pets to be left in the apartment on their own, most places in the area are dog friendly.

CHECK-OUT PROCESS When you leave, please ensure the following simple tasks are done: - take the rubbish and recycling out to the bins -ensure the dishes are washed and the dishwasher emptied - ensure the wall heaters are turned off manual - ensure all the lights are turned off - ensure the switches for the water heater, shower and towel radiator are turned off in the hallway cupboard - please leave the property how you found it - lock the house and leave the house keys back in the cupboard where you found them - leave the key back in the key lock and ensure the numbers are scrambled We hope you had a wonderful holiday and wish you safe travels back home. We'd love to see you again next time!

CHECK-OUT TIME Check-out time is strictly 10am. Should you require a later check-out we will do our best but you need to let us know beforehand. If we have guests arriving that day it will be almost impossible to offer a late check-out due to the cleaners needing to prepare for those guests.

ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION

APPLIANCE INSTRUCTIONS / INFORMATION

INSTRUCTION BOOKS

All the instruction books for the appliances etc are in the top left hand drawer of the dining room cupboard under the place mats. Please make sure these are returned here after use. There are a few inserts in the back of the welcome pack with the basic controls to help reduce your time reading the full instructions

ELECTRICITY AND WATER The main electric fuse board is in the hallway cupboard at high level, this was replaced and the full flat rewired in 2022. To view the fuses lift the cover and then all the fuses are marked up. There are 2 circuit breakers on the board so if you have any problems with electrics not working check these first followed by the individual fuses The main water stop tap is in the bathroom mirror cabinet and only needs to be operated in the emergency of a burst or leak

SMOKE ALARMS There are 2 ceiling alarms in the property that are linked. The one in the hallway is a smoke alarm and the one in the kitchen area is a heat alarm to prevent false alarms when cooking. If these are activated by cooking then press and hold the button to silence them, you will hear a bleep after around 10 minutes which is informing you they are activated again.

BATHROOM Electric Shower – the main isolator is located in the hallway cupboard. Push the button to start and adjust the temperature as required. To switch between the fixed or hand held shower turn the dial on the bottom of the shower rail, with the lever up this will run the fixed rainhead and down will run the hand held head

Towel radiator – The main isolator for this is in the hallway cupboard labelled up. The temperature on the thermostat will come on at the set temperature so does not need adjusting Illuminated mirror – This also has a demister pad but needs turning on with the touch button (square on mirror). If the light is on the demister will start to warm up so it is steam free after showering. Lights & Fan – There are 3 switches together for the bathroom. One for the main lights, one for the floor light and one for the fan. Please ensure you run the fan when showering.

ELECTRIC HEATING Our home has an electric heating system which will be set to times in the colder months but this is not normally needed in Summer as the flat keeps very warm. If the nights become chilly the heaters will just need turning to manual by using the mode key until the hand appears in the display just while you boost the temperature a little but please turn them back off when warm as they are expensive to run and your co-operation is sought so we can keep the cost of all our guests holidays as low as possible

TV AND SATELITE TV The tv and satellite remotes should be on the boat under the tv. The plugs should be on but if not the tv one is behind the tv near the bracket and the satellite one is behind the boat. There is no aerial to the tv so it will only work when you change the source to satellite (hdmi). There is a spare hdmi connected to the tv with the other end behind the boat in case you want to connect your own equipment while you are staying.

KITCHEN EQUIPMENT All manuals for the electrical equipment and appliances are in the dining room drawer. There are a few page inserts at the back of this guide to show the basics. The Fire extinguisher and fire blanket are kept in the cupboard above the extractor hood.

The Dishwasher: It's very simple, we promise! you will need to insert a dishwasher tablet into the flip box container on the inside of the dishwasher door. Then press the program button of your choice - there are a few settings which are obvious - then press the start button.

The Fridge/freezer: You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it's not cooling efficiently) please let us know.

The Hob: The hob is an induction hob and all the pans in the apartment are suitable for this. To turn on hold the on/off button until the lights come on. To operate select the ring you want and then use the + and – keys to adjust the setting. The ring will not operate until the pan is placed on the ring Please do not place anything else on the hob other than the designated pans

Large oven:The main oven has many functions and the oven door is hide and slide so will retract into the bottom of the appliance when you open the door. The oven and grill only operate when the door is closed

Combi microwave & ovenAgain this has many functions and a quick guide is at the back but the main thing to do is once the door has been opened this pauses cooking so when you close the door to carry on you must press the play/start triangle or the cooking will not restart

Extractor hoodThis just pills out and you will hear the fan start. The extractor is a recirculating one so not ducted out so we generally open the door or window a bit to let the steam and smells out.

KettleOnce filled just press the circular on button on the base to start the boiling process. Please ignore the other button as this is a keep warm function and just wastes energy

Toaster This is kept in the pull out cupboard next to the sink unit to save space on the worktops. You are welcome to leave it out while using the apartment if you wish but please put it back into the cupboard before you leave

Air Fryer This is on the shelf above the fridge, please clean after every use then place back on the shelf once it has cooled.

HOT WATER This is supplied by a small heater in the hallway cupboard and just needs the switch in the cupboard labelled water heater turning on. It is ok to leave on as it has a thermostat incorporated but please turn this off as you leave in case there are no guests staying after you. The temperature is set so please do not try to adjust this.

PULL DOWN BEDTo use the pull down bed the bifold wardrobe doors need opening fully by pulling the handles then gently sliding the doors by pushing them across. Once fully open the bed can be lowered down, this is quite easy as it has a spring motion but nevertheless please be careful, as it comes down the legs automatically open. The bed can be left made up but please put the straps back on after use to hold the mattress and bedding in place. There is a shelf above to put the pillows on and they can also be stored on the legs when the bed is up. The doors should just slide back into the closed position. There is a led nightlight above the bed and the switch is located in the niche on the left hand side along with a plug socket.

DINING TABLEThe foldaway table just needs the leaf lifting and the leg pulling under the leaf. There are 4 fold up chairs stored within the middle of the table to sit on and there are 4 cushions in the top of the dining room wardrobe to make it a bit more comfortable if needed. The place mats are in the top drawer in the dining room
BALCONYChildren must not be left unattended on the balcony at any time. Please keep the balcony door locked if not in use and children are present. A fold up table and chairs are supplied for the balcony but please bring these in if heavy winds are forecast and also at the end of your stay.

FIRST AID KITA first aid kit is available in the cupboard above the extractor hood. Please let us know if you use this or if it is missing so we can restock or replace it.

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION

BED LINEN / TOWELS The beds will be freshly made ready for your arrival and spare pillows are above the fold down bed and in the small bedroom wardrobe

RUBBISH DISPOSAL & RECYCLING The end kitchen unit in the flat has 2 bins inside. We put the grey council bags in one for general rubbish and a standard bin bag in the other for recycling. There is a food bin under the sink for food waste. There is a drawer above the bins with spare bags if needed. The bin store is at the top of the car park next to our parking space and everything is clearly labelled. Please tie the grey bag and leave it on the right hand side The food bag goes in the food bins The bag of recycling needs to be emptied in to the relevant labelled boxes. We try to reuse this bag as much as possible but when it is worn please put this in to the grey bags for disposal

Phone signal There is no phone signal at the Apartment or on the beach. The nearest signal is back up the hill and head towards Lamphey on freshwater east road. There is a bend with a bit of a layby on the left which is the nearest you will get signal and usually find vehicles parked here for this reason. We suggest you set up wifi calling on your phone and you may need to phone your provider for this but once set up you can make and receive calls through the flat wifi.

Smoking The apartment is strictly non smoking both inside and on the balcony including vaping. There are no exceptions to this.

Beaches

Freshwater East - Freshwater East Beach boasts broad sands, backed by dunes and grassy headlands. Popular with water sports enthusiasts, surfing, windsurfing, canoeing and sailing. Fishing is also a favoured pastime with local fishermen launching their boats from the slipway. There are café and toilet facilities and ample parking near the beach.

Barafundle Bay - A small bay backed by dunes and pine trees, accessible only by a half mile walk from the nearest car park. Swathes of golden sand and crystal clear waters, Barafundle has been voted many, many times as one of the best beaches in Britain and the world. It is often likened to a Caribbean beach! This pristine beach is isolated which means no facilities, so everything you take has to come back again. Nearest car park is Stackpole Quay.

Broad Haven South - A wide sandy bay backed by dunes that lead from The National Trust owned Bosherston Lily ponds. Explore the boulders and ‘island’ on the west side to discover caves and springs
gushing out of the cliffs. The convoluted low cliffs on the east side have a few small caves at low tide. The clean stream emptying out of the lily ponds runs along this side and is perfect for small children to play in. There’s also a good rock for jumping off at high tide. There’s ample parking above the beach in the National Trust car park or in Bosherston village by the church for those with wheelchairs or push chairs. It’s a 1 mile walk to the beach if you come from the village but it does take you through the picturesque lily pond

Manorbier – A popular family beach with Manorbier Castle on the hill above. There are toilets in the car park but no shop or café close to beach so take your own picnic! Good for surfing if the conditions are right but there are no lifeguards. Plenty of rock-pools and a nice wide but shallow stream running into the sea. There are scenic cliff walks and if you take the coastal path to the right of the beach and go over the headland you will come to another beach called Swanlake Bay.

Saundersfoot – This large, southeast facing beach of golden sand is one of the most popular stretches of coastline in Pembrokeshire. It provides unrivalled opportunities for water-sports, beach games, fishing and boat trips. A lively tourist beach, popular with families, has all the expected amenities close to the beach. Lifeguards are on duty from the end of June to the end of September.

Coppet Hall – Next to Saundersfoot beach, this is a safe sandy beach with lots of rock pools to explore at the eastern end. The old tramway runs along the top of the beach with tunnels to both the east and west to Wisemans Bridge and Saundersfoot. Toilets and small shop with ice-cream and refreshments.

Wisemans Bridge – Wisemans Bridge beach is a wide but rocky foreshaw backed by a pebble bank. It’s possible to walk all the way to Amroth or Saundersfoot along the beach at very low tide. The coast path follows the old tramway to Saundersfoot along an elevated sea wall and through some superb tunnels. Look out for an old mine entrance on the way. Toilets and a pub.

Amroth - All expected amenities including lifeguard, beach backed by pebbles, the beach is sandy when tide is out. Amroth is the starting point of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

Tenby - There are 3 beaches at Tenby; Tenby Castle, Tenby North and Tenby South. All are family beaches with lifeguards and plenty of facilities. There is a park and ride behind the South Beach with a shuttle bus that runs to all beaches and the town centre.

Freshwater West - Great for surfing, best waves in the County, however not suitable for swimming. Backed by large sand dunes, this beach was a film location for the Robin Hood remake starring Russell Crowe and the site of the Shell House scene from the Harry Potter film, Deathly Hallows. There are toilets but no permanent café, there is a mobile refreshment van in the high season. lifeguards now patrol the beach in peak season.

Marloes Sands - Marloes Sands is a vast remote beach in Pembrokeshire's southern peninsula, which remains very uncrowded throughout the year. A walk along its coast path offers stunning views of the beach, Skokholm Island and Gateholm Island. Gateholm Island has the remains of an ancient settlement, and can be accessed at low water. There is a National Trust car park off the track near Marloes Mare, where a 15 minute walk along a footpath takes you to the steps down to the beach.

Whitesands beach
This is one of the best surfing blue flag beaches in the country and therefore very popular. The surf ‘break’ is at the northern end and on busy days there are canoeists, surfers, and bodyboarders competing for the best waves. Dog restrictions apply to the entire length of the beach between 1st May and 30th September.

Newgale - Newgale Sands is definitely one of the biggest and quite possibly one of the best beaches in Wales. At over two miles long this vast sweep of pebble-backed sand has masses of space, which is fortunate because it is popular with just about everyone! families, surfers, kite-surfers, horses
and dogs. Newgale’s position on the far western coast of Wales makes it an ideal spot for surfing with waves coming uninterrupted from the Atlantic Ocean.
At high tide Newgale tends to lose the Sands and all that is left is the huge pebble bank stretching the length of the beach, formed back in 1859 during an almighty storm!

Castles

Pembroke Castle - the birthplace of Henry VII is one of the most magnificent medieval monuments in Britain. Exploring the castle will provide hours of fun for the whole family, whilst exhibitions and tableaux recount the castle's fascinating history, from the arrival of the Normans in 1093 to the present day.

Tenby Museum - Tenby Museum & Art Gallery stands as the oldest independent museum in Wales. Established in 1878 it continues to develop its collections and displays to preserve and promote the history of the town, giving a sense of place and heritage to both the local person and the visitor. The Museum has a collection of local geology, biology, archaeological and maritime artifacts

Adventuring

Caldey Island - Caldey Island lies cradled in the magnificent South Pembrokeshire coastline on the western fringes. It is one of Britain's holy islands. The Cistercian monks of Caldey continue a tradition which began there in Celtic times. More than a thousand years of prayer and quiet living have made this remote and beautiful island a haven of tranquillity and peace. The monks and islanders are pleased to welcome day-visitors to share the delights of their island home throughout the summer season via sea taxi from Tenby.

St Govan’s Chapel - St Govan’s church, an 800 year old sanctuary, wedged almost impossibly in the limestone rocks, between sea and cliff top. Hidden on the southernmost tip of Pembrokeshire shrouded in myths and legends and once famed for its healing powers, St Govan’s draws hundreds of visitors each year. Dedicated to St Govan, an Irish monk from Wexford.

The Green Bridge - If you’re looking for spectacular viewpoints in Pembrokeshire, then I would recommend visiting the Green Bridge of Wales! A dramatic limestone archway that stands over the sea on the rugged and wild coastline. Although it’s a natural formation on the cliffs, visiting here isn’t always easy due to its location on a military range. So, planning your visit in advance is essential. It is steeped in rich geological heritage and there have been many fossils found here.

Blue Lagoon/ Abereiddy beach - Pebbles and extraordinarily dark sand made of pounded grey slate form this rural beach. The same slate gives a brilliant deep blue colour to the water in the ‘Blue Lagoon’; a beautiful little harbour – a breached quarry – just to the north of the beach which is accessible for wheelchair and scooter users. Be aware Abereiddy beach has strong currents. This is a popular spot for coasteering and climbing along the cliffs.

St Davids Cathedral - Set on a spectacular Pembrokeshire peninsula jutting out into the Atlantic upon the site of an earlier sixth-century monastery built by St David, the patron saint of Wales, St Davids Cathedral has been a site of pilgrimage and worship for more than 800 years. Today this splendid building erected to the glory of God remains a vibrant, living church offering a place of peace for prayer and devotion.

Skomer island, - Located less than a mile off the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast, Skomer is truly a wonderful place to visit. Between April and July, Skomer is well known for its puffins, but there is so much more to this National Nature Reserve - including Manx shearwaters, dolphins, seals, razorbills. Shades of pink are added as the weather warms and swathes of red campion cloak the landscape. Boat trips to Skomer are weather permitting.

Preseli mountains - The Preseli Mountains, or Preseli Hills, rise out of the landscape to 536m in the northern half of Pembrokeshire and are in complete contrast to the relative lowlands of the south. The hills are the ideal location for some great walking away from the coastline. Dotted across the hills are prehistoric remains, burial cairns dating back to the bronze age and Iron Age hill forts.

We Hope you Have a wonderful Time Exploring The Area and that our apartment meets your expectations.

Please add any comments, suggestions or recommendations that may be useful to other guests or for ourselves to improve the property and our guest stays Below and we will update this guide and The flat appropriately. 1 – I will start as I initially missed this off the shower section. When using the shower the flipper panel needs to be angle in to the shower at around 30-45 degrees otherwise it may leak if inline with the main panel as it has no bottom seal on as it is designed as a deflector panel

Updates will appear here periodically as guests add to the guest book in the Appartment
