  • Argylle, written by the elusive Elly Conway (see articles below), which was FIRST adapted into a movie and THEN became an actual book released at the beginning of 2024, is finally arriving in theatres – starring Sofia Boutella, Henry Cavill, and Dua Lipa – catch it on the big screen on February 2, 2024

  • One Day based on David Nicholls’ novel of the same name is getting a limited series reboot after the somewhat disappointing movie adaption starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess that came out in 2011 – the series stars Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall – stream it on Netflix on February 8, 2024

  • Lisa Frankenstein super-duper loosely based on the high-school reading list classic Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein will be coming to theatres just in time for Valentine’s Day for those of you who gravitate toward the gothic more than the romantic – written by Diablo Cody (I mean this is enough reason for me to go check it out) and starring Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse – watch it in theatres on February 9, 2023

January Highlights:

First, I truly want to apologize for not releasing a newsletter for the month of January. Second, I feel that the progress you make toward your new year’s goals and intentions really shouldn’t start until February and that January is a trial month where you’re still recovering from the holidays and trying to make it through each day as best you can what with the non-existent sun and all of the snow (am I right fellow Midwesterners)? Third, after all that being said, I really have gotten quite a bit of reading done this month which I’m super excited to share!

I FINALLY read Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan in honor of the book being turned into a series on Disney+ and let me tell you – it did not disappoint! When I was in middle school, we actually devoted an entire quarter to Greek mythology (it was actually one of my favorite units in school that I still remember vividly to this day). So, for me, mixing the elements of Greek mythology with a hero’s journey young adult novel starring many extremely endearing characters and many characters that you love to hate was the perfect mix and I can’t wait to now dive into the Disney+ series!

I am also halfway through the Count of Monte Cristo which is the first book I’m reading after joining YouTube stars @carolynmariereads and @emmiereads “Game of Tomes” – for such a giant book, I can see why it’s stood the test of time. It’s like a combination of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Sword in the Stone, Aladdin, and the best of the best true-crime documentaries all rolled into one! Consider joining the book club or reading this truly masterful classic if you have room on your TBR.

It Ends With Us big screen adaptation of the best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover was originally set to release on February 9, 2024, but has now been pushed back to June 21, 2024, due to production delays resulting from the writer’s strike that occurred in 2023 – so if you’re like me and you still haven’t read the book yet – you have some more time!

It Ends With Us Release Information

HBO is at it again and is planning to adapt Chicago native Gillian Flynn’s novel Dark Places into a limited series. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the adaptations done so far of her other novels Gone Girl and Sharp Objects so I can’t wait to check this one out as well!

Just For Fun:

  • When I heard that Hallmark Channel was honoring none other than Jane Austen for their new series of “Loveuary” movies premiering throughout the month of February – my Regency Era obsessed heart just about burst!
